Will you sign a petition for more trains to stop at Acton Main Line?

From memory around 22,000 people responded to TfL's consultation on Turnham Green (I think this may have been before online petitions were really a thing). Getting to 5,000 signatures may be neat but the fact that it is not too much investment of time and effort works both ways. My strong recommendation for anyone looking to get an effective campaign going on this would be to involve as many people as possible with railway and engineering experience and, as a first step, seek to understand why TfL has limited the number of stops at Acton Main Line. It may be that this points to a full service being impractical but there may be scope for a gradual increase.

Peabody Trust or Mount Anvil ?I doubt if they have any today because Ian McDermott blow a hole in Peter Mason's grand plan by pulling out of the Southall project. Of course he will keep all the funding Sadiq Khan had given for that and Thamesmead.

Good thinking there Mark and thank you for your advice. Neither Sara or I are the people responsible for the petition and I will try to pass on your experience to those who are. I often use Turnham Green station and like many others resent sitting in the rain while the Picadilly trains swoosh by. I have never been that convinced by the arguments for keeping it mainly served by the District Line, but what would I know?

Having been involved fairly actively with campaigning for a Piccadilly line at Turnham Green some years ago, I would caution against assuming strength of numbers is enough to bring about change. At the time the response to the consultation on the issue was the largest ever for a question on a single station. The issue is an engineering one and the first step to getting change is understanding the challenges that have led to this decision. Don't make the mistake that I and others did in assuming the apparently illogical nature of provision was just down to bureaucratic inertia. If you can pin down the exact reasons for the current situation, you should be able to build a much more convincing argument for how it could be improved without an unduly negative impact on services overall.

Im sure she is but with that number of responses, TfL would probably come to a Town Hall meeting if asked. We saw several representitives before the line opened. It would be helpful if the invitation went through Rupa's office. St. Mary's church hall is convenient for many.

She says she is pursuing more trains - but I don’t know either how or with what effect.Tuesday, Wednesday,  Thursday are incredibly busy… and getting busier all the way through to about 1030.

Agree with Sara. Perhaps the Maidenhead or Reading traings could stop at Acton Main line (and Hanwell_ As there are now almost 3500 signatures, the petition is doing well. If we can get it up to 5000 we can call for a Town Hall mweting with TfL. There is some hope of success. I will post the link to the petition below in a little while. Please sign if you havne't had a chance to do so and encourage anyone you know to do the same.

It’s up to around 3,000 signatures.The trains are PACKED in the morning (I’ve had a month’s commuting, unusually, so really know) and there are just not enough trains. Petition asks for all trains to stop - asking a lot. But 6-8 and hour would be fab.

Well over 1000 locals have signed the petition so doing well. But Acton is a big place and we can do better.
