Network Rail had applied to the DfT for a compulsory purchase order to build a Railway Access Point for HS2 materials on that land. There was an enquiry, public meeting and consultation over 2 years, local residents were consulted. The government reported back well over a year ago, saying they were minded to approve the purchase by NR. They were supposed to make a final decision by July this year but they haven't. Now with the opening of the builders merchant it looks as though NR have decided not to proceed.Separately the owners of the builders depot submitted plans for a residential development, but presumably that is also cancelled now.
