Greens letting down people of North Acton

It must be very frustrating for the people of North Acton that having picked three councillors they have to vote again now that one of the Green councillors has stepped down.What makes it even more galling is that no explanation is being offered. It could be that Simon Anthony was selected as a 'paper candidate' but that would make little sense with the Greens hotly tipped to win seats in the ward. There are suggestions he is unwell, in which case, hopefully he makes a full recovery but why not tell us this?Could Labour now make the smart move and invite Daniel Crawford to contest the by-election?

Mystic Vlod only partially correct. No Dan Crawford but the losing North Acton Labour candidate has been replaced with Gareth Shaw, former councillor in Walpole ward and chief whip and thus presumably completely loyal to Peter Mason, the key criteria for selection in a seat Labour hope to win.I’ve met and spoken to the Green candidate at a couple of election counts and she was perfectly pleasant. As she has been active in the Green Party for over a decade, one can presume she joined it for environmental reasons rather than to turn it into the People’s Front for the Liberation of Palestine. And apropos the by election, I happened to be driving down Saxon Drive on Saturday morning and saw perhaps as many as 10 people in dayglo Greener Ealing jackets with brooms and implements to remove vegetation from gutters and between paving stones. I’d never seen Council employees doing this sort of thing at the weekend (and rarely during the week) but then I remembered that Saxon Drive is in North Acton ward. Feel free to call me cynical!

If Simon Anthony were that unwell, he should not have been selected for a seat where the Greens had a chance of victory. They couldn't put up a full slate of candidates at the council elections, which suggests they may have scraped the bottom of the barrel to get some of them. Search for Simon Anthony online and there allegations that he posted anti semitic comments (see here: https://x.com/antisemitism/status/1799000862419005826). The Green Party clearly has a massive problem with Jew hatred, which it doesn't want to confront. Their candidate in the Makerfield by election has just stood down, supposedly for personal reasons, though it now transpires he shared social media posts claiming the attacks on Jews in Golders Green was a false flag operation. If Labour had selected Dan Crawford as one of their candidates, they probably wouldn't have lost a seat. But to choose him now would require Peter Mason to admit he made a mistake and it's hard to see that happening. Most likely, they select their losing candidate at the council elections.

I've just read this. Not come across this before locally. If he's ill quite understand but no further explanation from the party.
