Lloyds Chemist in Churchfield Road is closing

Not sure when but likely to be within the next six months...relocating to the High Street apparently because the one in Crown Street can't cope - well, that's true enough which is why I go to the one in Churchfield Road.It would be great if another chemist moved in there, but I bet it doesn't happen.

That's a shame, it's been there for years. Haven't Lloyds and Boots merged as companies? It would be nice to have a bigger Boots.

I find S.R. Pharmacy on the High Street next to McDonalds very good. If they are out of stock on a prescription item they usually get it in the same day. I found at Boots that it would always be the next day. Also S.R. do a good delivery service for customers.

I find the chemist on Horne Lane next to the charity shop very good.

Yes they are good - but nearer you than me and not en route for anything else I do - Churchfield Road one is on the direct route back from the doctors' surgery in Crown St.

It would be great if the space could be used for a bookies. There aren't enough in Acton.(TiC)

The old lloyds chemist is due to open any day now as a supermarket, however there are still plenty of other empty shops that would make a great chemist, it would be a very welcome addition to the road.

I would definitely switch from Lloyds back to a Churchfield Road chemist.

Great idea as long as you could provide the excellent repeat prescription and delivery service that Lloyds in Crown Street do.

Yes, it closed before you arrived, it is where the Baghdad Gate supermarket is opening 3 doors down from us

It would be great to have a chemist back in Churchfield Raod - I think the community has really missed it...though the team at the Lloyds on the High Street do a good job in supplementing the rather hopeless (in my opinion) one in Church Street.Wouldn't Jeremy's corner shop be just the perfect place for it?

How interesting! I find them slow and inefficient and rather unhelpful - seem to have such a close relationship with Crown Street Surgery that they feel they don't have to bother. I don't go there any more so maybe it has changed.But the one in the High Street is very helpful - though a small stock.

I think we are talking at cross purposes.The chemist i am referring to is the one at the top of Church Road,i agree the one in Crown Street is very slow.

Oh right - the new Lloyds? Yes that's the one I like too.Was maybe woken too early (c0630) by ecstatic son with Alevel results. Consequently totally brain dead.

For some silly reason, it does not sell tampons/sanitary ware...which is a bit odd given it is a chemist

I am more than happy to share information about myself and your request is perfectly understandable.I have lived in the UK for the past 10 years now. I did my A levels at Hammersmith and West London College then went on to the University of Bath to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. I obtained my MPharm in 2007. Since then, I have worked at St Marys Hospital in London as a pharmacist. The clinical knowledge and experience I gained rotating through the various specialist departments there has been invaluable to my career thus far.More recently, however, I decided to go into retail pharmacy in order to gain experience in this sector. I have been locuming in community pharmacies (mainly Lloyds) for the past year or so and have found it to be particularly enjoyable and fulfilling. During the last 6 months I have been looking into starting up my own pharmacy business. I have looked particularly at the acton/ealing area as this is where I live and have ties with a fairly large Armenian community in the area.During my research of the area, I have come across a premise in Churchfield Road which seems particularly suited for a pharmacy. It is directly across from the surgery. The Dr there (Dr Datta) is favourable regarding this. I also stumbled across the CCA website, after which I contacted Philippe. My reason for doing so is that there is mainly one thing in the way of having a pharmacy there:The Ealing Primary Care Trust will ONLY issue me an NHS pharmaceutical license if I/we can show that having a pharmacy there will be both NECESSARY and DESIRABLE.Any comments/advice anyone may have in order to help achieve this aim would be extremely appreciated.Please feel free to contact me regarding anything you may like to know.I look forward to hearing your comments and thank you for your time.Kind Regards,Hratch Youredjian MPharm

Apparently the Lloyds chemist in the High Street - the one that relocated from Churchfield Road - has just closed down.Yet only months ago the loval PCT refused permission for a chemist to open in Churchfield Road.So now we are left with a choice of Boots, the almost wholly unsatisfactory Lloyds in Crown St or shlepping up to Horn Lane.I dont know what we have to do to get one again in Churchfield Road - any ideas?

Whenever I went into Lloyds in the High Street (always an emergency prescription) they never seemed to have all the medication and I was regularly asked to come back in a day.  What good is that when you need meds quickly?  In comparison, when Lloyds were in Churchfield Road, they went out of their way to help me, although often again didn't have the stock.Boots on the other hand always seem to have the meds and whatsmore, the security guard in there is so helpful.  He's all eyes and ears for potential shoplifters and is quick to help anyone who's lost at the counter.  A good service indeed.

Amazing isn't it, around here you can probably get hold of any illegal drugs you could possibly want 24/7, but getting prescription drugs takes much longer.

Sorry to disagree with some of the postings, but I have always found that Lloyds in Crown Street is well stocked and helpful.  They also run an excellent delivery service if needed.  I use their repeat prescription service and it works very well.

I agree - I think that one takes the mick because it is right next door to a bustling surgery so doesn't have to try.It's a cartel rather than competition in the chemists' world.

Although its very scruffy, the chemist next door to McDonald's in the high st is excellent. Very helpful staff, they can order meds on the same day usually, do home deliveries AND if you are a regular you get 10per cent of any purchases in the shop!

I agree Alison, my partner and I have used this chemist for years and have always received an excellent service from them.  The staff there are very helpful and friendly and do not keep you waiting for your prescriptions. Hated Loyds as they just kept you waiting for ages for your prescriptions.

Yes it's fine - but it's the other way from everything else. I generally want to kill several birds with one trip: butcher, dry cleaner, chemist, cappucino for example. A Horn Lane chemist doesnt really work for that.

Another chemist on Uxbridge Road by Hillcrest Surgery.The chemist in ASDA is open later supermarket hours, which can be helpful.

The chemist in Church Road is ok too!I wonder if the PCT would reconsider it's stance on a pharmacy in Churchfield Road now that Lloyds have closed? I still do not understand how they could consider allowing Lloyds to open in the High Street, when there are so many other pharmacies within a few hundred yards, but not allow one in Churchfield Road near a doctor's surgery?

Took my latest prescriptions to S&R in the High Street who didnt have it in stock and couldn't guarantee it would arrive tomorrow.So I tried Boots - which was chaotic as maybe they haven't adapted to demand generated by Lloyds closure. But they had both prescriptions and in well under ten minutes too.

It's ever such a long way away from Goldsmith Avenue though.And supposing they don't have itso I have to shlep back.Nope. Boots works for me - but one in Churchfield Road would work better

Yes a very good idea nearer to acton central rail even better, there are no chemists until you get to acton high street and there are doctors in the area.
