Personally, being old enough to have seen the mess that successive elected governments have inflicted upon us through a severe lack of common sense, ridiculously bad law making (more time spent in the commons outlawing fox hunting than debating the recent terrorism bills), constant tinkering with education to ensure a lack of continuity and reduction in standards, constant streams of directives to interfere with every aspect of our lives, creating a culture where no one can be held responsible for their own actions, overburdening all of us with excessive form filling and tick boxes, the unrelenting removal of benefits such as free university education for all whilst telling us the tax take has increased, lack of care for those that really put their lives on the line for their country within the armed forces, constantly blaming previous governments for today’s ills whilst doing nothing to reverse their policies, espousing platitudes regarding a health service that is more interested in targets than care of the sick, creating and filling QUANGO’s with their mates who often know nothing about the subject area and proceed to ruin anything that actually works well, filling their own boots regardless of ethics whilst telling us it was within the rules and then using archaic laws to stop themselves being prosecuted and finally filling the Lords with a bunch of lickspittle idiots along political lines , or the amount of hard cash donated to that particular party, who then don’t even turn up, or when they do, are too stupid to understand what is going on about them and vote along party political lines, alongside behaving in exactly the same reprehensible way as the Richard Head’s in the commons.Sorry, but I would actually prefer a bunch of chinless yahoo’s that I have nothing in common with and who do not live in the real world, because, at least they are educated (who cares if privately or otherwise as long as they are a damn site cleverer than me) to a high standard and have shown over the years that regardless of their politics they are willing to properly debate new laws and vote against the incumbent government if they think what is being proposed is downright dumb, and have the wherewithal to actually understand the phrase ‘unintended consequences’.Rant over and looking forward to the next automaton fool that comes knocking at my door with a vacant expression enquiring as to my intention to vote for an over privileged career numpty of a Conservative/Labour/Liberal/Green candidate at the election that hasn’t even been called yet. Now, where’s that metal bucket and oil so I can man the ramparts (see, there is a use for history lessons after all).
