Catholic Primary Education in Acton

Two things to ask about catholic education in Acton:St Vincent's CatchmentWe live within the boundaries of the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes and our son qualifies for admission to St Vincent's under Section 2(a) of the admissions criteria. However, we live in the east of the parish away from the school. I know it changes every year but I would be interested in knowing from current or prospective parents how far from the school the catchment realisticly extends. We are 0.9 miles according to google earth.New Acton catholic primaryI have heard rumours that a new catholic primary will open in the Noel Road area. I can find nothing on the RCDOW website or the Ealing LEA website. Does anybody know where I can find info about admissions and year of opening.I have a 13 year old and an 18 month old. I had forgotten how nailbiting the admissions process is.Thanksa

If you drop into St. Vincent's school, there is a map in the reception area showing the boundaries of the current catchment. As you mention, it does change from year to year. You could also request details from the office, while you are there.

Thanks Kim.It's not as simple as looking at the map.We are in the catchment. However, as always when there is a tie they go on distance from the school. I assume, as with most oversubscribed schools, St V's will not be able to take all pupils elegible under section 2 of the admissions code. Therefore, I would be interested in knowing how far from the school current parents from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and, in particular, parents with pupils starting in Sep 2010 live. If lots of them live more than 0.9 miles away we are broadly speaking ok, if they don't we will need a plan b. a

The way things are with the Catholic church you might find it easier to get your child in than you thought.
