NOISE today from the Horn Lane Network Rail Yards - Phone Council & COMPLAIN - 0208 825 8111

Obviously only complain if th e noise bothers you, don't understand how the locals put up with it really .its definitely ruining my saturday.

But the rail yards were there before any of us were. I find it difficult to understand how one could be run without noise.

my mistake. Not the railway or the trains but one of th ecompanys who are located in th eestate Yeomans I think. Absolutely LOUD cleaning equipment /jetwashing, sound of gravel etc.

"Yeomans I think. ... sound of gravel etc."That's their business.  Gravel and other aggregates come up from Somerset to Acton Yard and then get distributed elsewhere by road and rail.  Perhaps one of the locals can say whether it was noisier than usual.

Glad I'm not the only one with ears in this part of Acton.The noise was way beyond the pale, extremely loud and intrusive, particularly being a Saturday.

So...did anyone phone and complain? Was there someone there or a recording? What action did they take?

Well I certainly phoned the Council and logged a complaint.The level of noise was completely out of order and because of the unique location of the source of the noise it is  impossible to see what they are actually doing.Hopefully the Council gained access and duly noted what was going on.I await to hear, having insisted on the elusive "Reference Number"!

Noise was bad enough in The Drive for me to email Rosco and also take a camera when we took the baby to North Acton playing fields (the noise was more than audible from here, too.)In the end, the noise seemed slightly less frequent and so I didn't manage to catch it on video. Noticed this 'new' noise start a week or so ago - it sounds like gravel being tipped or a jet wash...... or torrential rain!I'm sure everyone's aware it's a gravel yard but I bet some noises are not allowed - just as the fires lots of people saw aren't allowed, either. But just because something isn't allowed, doesn't mean companies won't try to get away with it. Whilst we're on the noise thing - Ealing Highways decided to fix the Acton Main Line/Horn Lane bridge potholes...... at 7.45am on Sunday morning!!Obviously a quiet traffic time to do it but isn't there some rule about no works noise before 8am?

Problem with noise (sound) is that it's very subjective depending on how pleasant, or unpleasant it is. Even worse when you don't know what's going on.Foxes screaming in the distance at night, isn't actually loud, but very unpleasant.  :- Noise.Your phone ringing would register louder. :- Sound.I'll assume the 'noise'  wasn't the normal 'noise' was therefore more noticeable. Even a machine left running longer than usual.Chances are, ring to complain at the time, the sound/noise would be barely audible over the telephone. A couple of weeks later, I imagine those on site will be saying in  'what noise . . .? 'I hope it gets dealt with, whatever it was.

It's all about nipping this stuff in the bud.Immediately, now.The escalation of noise and air pollution from these yards has been going on for some time now and cannot be allowed to continue to "creep" unchallenged.

Don't suppose anyone has contact details of Gowing and Pursey's spokesperson, Michael Hughes, do they? According to his reposte in the ActonW3 article 'the company is very conscious of neighbouring residents and businesses'. In which case he may like to ask G&P to stop its trucks driving and parking illegally and irresponsibly all over our residential roads - namely Friary Road, The Drive and in Friary Park Estate. Just to go to Harry's Cafe, which is one minute's walk from G&P's depot. As Dee (and G&P) has pointed out, there isn't enough room for its trucks to park in its own yard and that's why they are parking here. But I fail to see why that should be the local residents' problem.Just as I find it strange how (and I quote from their article again) 'G&P welcomes dialogue... to help them find a more suitable site'.You know what, G&P, that's your job! (sighs in disbelief)If anyone knows how to post photos here - and can tell me, I'd be happy to show everyone exactly what I mean about the parking thing.
