ECDL comouter course/exam

I am thinking of taking Part1 and then Part 2 of a "European Computer Driving license course" (ECDL) which covers a lot of the Microsoft applications.Has anyone else taken this?  How did they find it? I am partly doing it because the certificate will look nice on my CV.

It should be a course teaching how to use computers, not how to use Microsoft.

My wife did an earlier sylabus, most Library staff had to do it and some had real problems as not comfortable with pc's. It was wide ranging but fairly basic. By posting on this site you have covered a chunk of it!If you have not done so already I would read the sylabus and see what gaps if any doing the course will meet. It will have some value on your CV depending on what other experience you have.....Will it cost you anything? Good luck

I was thinking of doing the same but got put off when I looked at the ECDL book (you can borrow it from local library) and checked out the prices. Instead I discovered Vision2Learn (www.vision2learn.com), and I registered for their free on-line IT course. I found it very helpful (althought it was quite a challenge), I learned lots of new stuff, and in the end I received NVQ level 2 certificate. I can definitely recommend them. They do lots of other free courses, and the only downfall is that you have to keep trying to register as they are obviously in high demand. Good luck.
