Freedom Passes - a reminder

Freedom Pass renewal 2010Freedom Pass holders are advised that passes must be renewed by 31 March 2010, as they will expire after that date.The new style passes will be valid for five years.For extra security, the new passes will include a photograph of the owner on the card.The new passes will be sent by post rather than being issued over the counter. It will take up to 10 working days for passes to arrive after application.Pass holders need to ensure they apply for their new pass well before 31 March.Freedom Pass renewal begins on 4 January and ends early March 2010.

I contacted the council today as due to illness have not renewed my freedom pass and was told I can use it for another two months.

It will probably get rejected by the Oyster readers from tomorrow, but should be accepted if shown to a bus driver or rail/Tube staff.  This is what London Councils say:If you have not yet renewed your pass, you can continue to use your ‘expired’ old-style pass for the next couple of months as a visual pass when shown to the bus driver or ticket inspector. This is an agreement London Councils has reached with the train operators and Transport for London to ensure that existing Freedom Pass holders can continue to travel in London.
