Squatted house on Horn Lane?

Last night the empty house on the corner of Summerlands and Horn Lane had it's metal back door grill forced off the hinges and the lights were on. Not sure whether contractors are working on it, but it seems unlikely as the grill was still hanging off and the lights were still on this morning. I've had mixed experiences with squatters - I lived near a very pleasant squatting community in Tottenham a number of years ago who did an excellent job of doing up a run-down abandoned building and grew their own veg in the back garden, but I've also lived near some pretty unpleasant squats where the occupants made a habit of burgling their surrounding neighbours to feed their various habits. Anyone else know more about whats going on in this building?

Has it been empty a long while. The Google Earth photo shows the house on the corner looking very tatty.

This has been reported to Streetwatchers. The side gate has been broken, the front grid removed, lights on upstairs.When a property is empty and grids are put up this only attracts squatters - surely much better to make the property appear as though someone is residing there?We had awful problems in the past with a large empty property which attracted squatters, fly tipping, theft of lead from the roof and so on. Finally the residents kept on at the Housing Association who were leaving this building to rot.In the end it was sold at auction now renovated and new residents living there.It brings the whole neighbourhood down when properties are left in this state.

May I suggest that the report of the sighting of males with the copper be reported to the police as it will probably be stolen from somewhere, if not from inside the house itself (0300 123 1212)

This reminds me of that other squatted house - was it Pierrepoint Road? The one Bob Crossley campaigned to get cleared of junk for about two years....and then there was an extraordinary amount - mostly rotting mattresses.I walked past at the weekend and all the fences are down...the house exposed and boarded up and looking large and miserable. I seem to recall the owners are based abroad - hence some of the problems. Anyone know what's happening there?

I wonder why owners are allowed to leave properties derelict and neglected for years, this in turn attracts squatters, flytipping, rats and so on. Apart from that it is a blight on the landscape, and absolute eyesore for neighbours. Not to mention problems in the neighbourhood sometimes associated with people living in a squat.We passed by recently and it looks absolutely awful, who would want to live near this location?Why can't the Council make a compulsory order and ensure that action is taken to make this property habitable once again. After all there is supposed to be a shortage of housing!

this house had sitex doors and windows fitted they have ripped these off to gain entry even now they are still in there this is breaking and entry which in this country is against the law i thought
