I haven't been in for a few weeks (prior commitments).  Last time I went, the coffee was disappointingly weak.  Has anyone noticed an improvement?

The coffee is fine but you have to specify what you want. For me it is a double shot small cappuncino in a little cup. That seems to do it.

I popped in to get bread this lunch time (their bread is usually delicious),  and I thought would buy a BLT sarnie as well as feeling lazy,  was starving,  got home,  got changed and sat down to eat NOT BLT boo hoo.  However, as I was a little piglet, I got a lemon tart as well which was delish!  Not tried coffee so cannot comment.  It was very quiet in there at 12.30.

Agree with the weak coffee comments. Also, I do think everything looks better than it tastes. But still, a nice addition to the neighbourhood

pain au raisin certainly tastes better than it looks and I think the cakes look and taste good. But I agree on the bread which is a tad bland.

Having said bread was tasty I tried a new one the other day and it tastes the same as others,  very nice but samey.  Also they have no idea how soda bread should be. But on the whole the bread is good and I would rather buy it from there than a supermarket.  I think the cakes are lovely and not been disappointed on that front.  I also hope they flourish and will continue to pop in.  That end of Churchfield Rd is looking very good (a different world to the other pigeon end)  and I don't think we should be sooo picky or they may end up the way of Vanilla - hopefully not though as they have consistent opening hours!

They are open late. I was pleased to pick up cake treats cycling home from my workshop thinking everything was shut (I took a huge tuna salad to work for lunch, honest). The sponge was a bit dry though, being the end of the day.

It's so nice having a lovely place to meet people and they do follow clear coffee instructions really willingly.And the cakes are a constant temptation off the old carb free diet.Angela Malik is starting to do dinners once a month - 24 people at a time...And there is definite movement at the Albion. Dunno what they are doing but some cheerful, workmanlike noises emerging.Plus the coffee shop in the station is due to reopen.Yes this end's not looking bad.

Becky, unfortunately I walk the pigeon poo end regularly when I get the bus home after work,  and your shop is the first nice thing I see.

Thank you, Jen. I have to sweep fag-ends away from the door and pick takeaways out of the tub all the time. I think people must sit in the flowers after the pub shuts, though some spikey edging has helped. Put your head in and say hello if I'm there when you're passing.

That's delightful of them to leave little "gifts" in your tub.  Someone very kindly left an empty pizza box on my front wall yesterday,  terribly "generous" of them.  Alas you are all shut up when I pass,  I don't always come home that way either .

True, my place has been shut a lot this winter while I've been doing other stuff. I'm not there on Mon and Tues anyway because of the art classes. Hope to be doing more woodwork there and open, now it's spring.

The rumour about the Albion is that the upper bit is being converted to flats, and the ground floor may be taken by Angela Malik as a deli/cafe, leaving the cookery school in the current premises. Can't wait!
