changing gas supplier - a warning
If you are moving from one gas supplier to another, please make sure your present supplier gives you the meter point reference number and the meter serial number for your gas meter.I told my current supplier that I wanted to move to Southern Electric for gas. I couldn't understand why it was taking so long to move over and it turned out that Souhtern Electric were applying for another meter point reference number. Thankfully that meter point had outstanding debts so the application kept being rejected. Had the debts against the meter been cleared, I would have been paying for the gas supply of another meter.I live in a new build property/block of flats and this is a huge problem. Were it not for my old supplier asking me to check that Southern were applying for the right meterpoint reference number, I would have been up s**t creek.
