Streetbank - growing fast

Streetbank, community sharing website, launched officially last week.. It's already growing fast. It takes about 3 minutes to join and there's a load of useful stuff on there to borrow - hedge-clippers, lawnmowers, batman costumes... the kind of things you don't really want to buy. I didn't realise it was as new as that - i have joined already but there are only 17 people within a mile of me so scarcely surprising no takers for my videos nor offered help with pumping up bike tyres...both of which seemed suitable ice-breakers.Good idea but I bet you find those people who do play with you are the ones who are already more active in the community than not.

Had a quick look and nobody at all in my vicinity yet....Great idea though if the site is 'policed' well.Can see this as a haven for free advertising of businesses though.Sara....if you want your bike tyres pumped up, go and see hubby..he does it all the time for the locals.

Of course he woulden't mind. He has the airline and such...does it all the time.Sometimes i walk in to work and will find letters, parcels, cookers, bathroom suites, washing machines and all manner of items that he takes in for the local residents..... delivered to us for safekeeping until they get to pick them up..Saves then having a day off work.Pop in anytime.....9 till 6

Because I am hopeless and can't find the pump we must have somewhere and can't wait till son gets home from gap year and tells me where he put it.All sorted now!

I've got a new pump which is much better than my old one. It's small and it sucks as well as blows, if you know what I mean. Twice the air for the effort. They are about £16 in Wolsey bikes (£24 on CHR).

Looks like it will fit in well with Freecycle and LETS.Continuing with cycling - regular maintenance classes and a drop in workstop start this Saturday in Greenford. Classes booked already but stay tuned for more details.www.ealingbikehub.co.uk

Oh I know there are classes but fitting them in with everything else...it sort of never quite gets to the top of the list. Rather like Pilates and sorting out my wardrobe.

A nice-sounding lady streetbanker is coming round tomorrow afternoon to take away some children's books - but only wants ones at the baby end.I still have quite a few left if anyone is interested - otherwise they will be going to the Oxfam bookshop later this week.
