Network Rai's Acton Cutting improvement works along Friary Road
Anyone else curious about the improvement works going on along Friary Road, to the embankment? I've just had a chat with the site manager. And apparently it's a health and safety issue. Nothing too serious. Just the small matter of the road and embankment slipping onto the track. The site manager did mention the words 'death' and 'accident'. But I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Which is good. Normal HGV service can resume shortly. But think about it from Network Rail's point of view for a second. Surely someone at Network Rail has to be wondering whether the income it's got from its Acton Cutting tenant over the years covers the money it's now having to spend repairing the damage done by its Acton Cutting tenant's customers. Because if you thought the camber on Friary Road was getting a bit steep, how does a bill for £350,000 sound?Ouch.
