No London Overground Bank Holiday Monday

Honestly they are the pits!No service for two whole days.

That's OK, you can take the Central Line.  No, that's shut.  District?  Nope.  Drive round the North Circular, then.  Oh hang on, that's closed all weekend with the traffic diverted through Acton.Actually, I'm rather surprised not to see that last one more widely reported.  There are signs up now warning motorists.

That's what you get from TfL - with the exception of Patrick who often tells us what's going on.

Rather oddly, they informed my son's school several days back, and they sent a mail out to all parents, so it's not like no one figured out that it was important information.  Just seems rather disorganised.Having so many public servants gagging themselves due to purdhah isn't helping, either.

I've just fired off an email to Alan Bristow (Traffic Director at TfL) pointing out that Acton Lane is totally unsuitable for diverted A406 traffic, and urging him to operate two-way traffic on the southbound carriageway instead.By the way, the only Central Line stations closed this weekend are Ealing Broadway and West Acton.  The rest of the line will continue to operate.

"By the way, the only Central Line stations closed this weekend are Ealing Broadway and West Acton.  The rest of the line will continue to operate."As will the Piccadilly - I presume they're working at Ealing Broadway station.  Doesn't help if you need to get to Ealing from Acton or Chiswick, though, unless you fancy a walk.  Wouldn't expect the 207 to be particularly fast-moving, and obviously rail replacement buses will inevitably have to use the same streets as the diverted A406 traffic.

So it inconveniences people.  Isn't it best that Network Rail / TFL do their work on a Bank Holiday rather than on a work day?  I am inconvenienced too - I'd have liked to gone to Hampstead Heath on Monday, but now I will just find an alternative.  Get over it.
