Was it really necessary to close AHS for the day?

My son is just about to do his GCSEs and needs every day of school he can get.  The staff and teachers get a bonus day off I suppose, but honestly, I am sure they could have found somewhere nearby to use.  I voted at Derwenter school where one room seems to be more than enough.

The Headteacher's second letter to parents in April explains that students won't miss out on schooling as a result of the election. The school is now holding its staff training session today, and the school will be open as usual on the date that had previously been set for this staff training. Requests in the past from the school to locate the polling station elsewhere were not taken up.

Many schools still manage to stay open for their exam groups.I would not plan an INSET between Easter and the bginning of exam leave.a
