An end, or just a pause for breath?

So we were still a 3-way marginal after all. I think we've had a good election here, although for the life of me I can't understand why the result was so late.In the aftermath I feel the need to say two things:- congratulations to Angie Bray. I hope that she will be an MP respected even by her opponents;- commiserations (yet contratulations too) to my friend Bassam, who fought brilliantly against a relentless tide of assertion that Labour could not be a contender in this seat.He knew differently, and now so does everyone else. Well done to Andy Slaughter, by the way, who held Hammersmith against the odds. Until the rematch!

I think it was due to the local elections as well as they had to count these results plus open all the Postal votes. Am feeling very tired having go up at 3 to see the results come in.

Have they done the local electrion count? I assumed it was because they were doing the parly seats sequentially to save money rather than employ several teams (which is probably why the polling debacle: just not enough desks at each station. The electoral commission should be comparing the provision this timne wuith previous elections and I bet they find fewer staff than hitherto in the underserved stations.

They haven't counted the council votes but they did verify the papers as valid. The count starts later today to allow for some rest for those involved.

I am very disappointed to have a Tory MP again. And I can't believe Jon Ball is still talking about it being a 2 horse race! Bad luck to Bassam, but well done to Andy Slaughter.

And I am very delighted to have a Tory MP again!So, God Bless Democracy, and the fact that we are in the fortunate position to at least have several parties to choose from.If you can get into the polling booth of course!!!!

I think Angie will probably be rather a good constituency MP and consolidate her vote - only partly because with a half decent Libdem or possibly Labour candidate and organisation (but only one party at a time!), she might be quite threatened.

Angie Bray was definitely the most impressive candidate; shame she's a Tory.I found it galling to have to vote for one of the other two incompetents.I hope we have better candidates when we have to do this again in a year or so.

Adam. Why on earth do you have to 'vote for one of the other two incompetents'? You should vote for the MP that you think will do the most good for you and your constituency.

But you have to balance that with how you think the party nationally would behave in power. I agree, Angie easily the best candidate.
