Residents parking tickets

Our parking permit expired at the end of March and we got a ticket a few days later.  Much as I expected my appeal was rejected on the ground that it "is the owners responsibility."I'm wondering if this is an isolated case or whether the council do actually send out noticed to renew as the website states?And second, who at the council is actually responsible for sending out the forms?  - Forgetting to send them out seems to be win proposal for themUntil a few years ago I had a spotless parking record, but in the last couple of years the combination of residents rules trivia, car changes, and cameras have got us a number of times.  I used to get upset about this but I'm trying to see it as a cost of car ownership.Maybe the council could introduce a bulk discount, or maybe a pay in advance plan.  You know, I pay £100 on 1st January and that covers  my first four parking tickets for the year.

I've just renewed my CPZ Permit and remembered that there is a seven day period after your permit expires where you remain covered:"You may be liable to receive a penalty charge notice (PCN) if your vehicle is displaying a permit that has expired for more than 7 days."On what date was your ticket issued?  Was it within the seven days?

Yes, they gave use the parking ticket on the 8th day.

Typical!  Always worth appealing though - I got a ticket outside my house last summer when my permit fell off the windscreen on a particularly hot day (my car had been parked there every day for the previous year but that still didn't stop them from slapping a ticket on!), so I appealed and although they didn't revoke the fine, because the 28 days for them to respond had elapsed they had to cancel the ticket.Victory thanks to poor admin!

It is mean isn't it.  I bet they had been watching your car and counting the days off.  A little reminder that your permit had expired stuck to the windscreen would give you a much more positive opinion of the whole business.

How many times does it have to be said?PCNs are NOT about controlling parking. They are a source of revenue. Make that conceptual switch and the Council's attitude becomes clear
