What happened at the corner of East Acton Lane and Uxbridge road necesitating airambulance copter?

It took off at 1410 havig been there around 30 minutes. East Acton Lane was closed the length of the Park.Must have been serious I fear.

Person knocked off of his motorbike by a 4 by 4 was what I was told by the guy in the upstairs flat.

I was very surprised to hear this mentioned on BBC Radio 2 this afternoon while listening to Chris Tarrant standing in for Steve Wright - they mentioned The Vale being closed in both directions. I'm in East Yorkshire until tomorrow and there was a similar incident here yesterday near Beverley, unfortunately the bike rider didn't survive the crash with a Peugeot, but it wasn't surprising considering the speeds they seem to go at round here.On an unrelated matter, talking of Chris Tarrant, apparently he used to live in Acton at one point so he told me once when I phoned him on Capital FM, he said he lived in Shakespeare Road!

The accident was a collision between a motorcyclist and my daughter's car.He skidded right underneath and thankfully only sustained a broken arm.The important point is that this is an extremely dangerous junction because you can be correctly positioned to turn right up East Acton Lane and still find yourself halfway into the oncoming outside traffic lane,causing that oncoming traffic to funnel in,sometimes very late. I sincerely hope the Council takes heed,because the next accident may be much worse.

Well thank goodness it was no worse! Just the sheer amount of police/copter/ general flashing lights did not seem to auger well.It is a nasty junction - horrid for cyclists too especially if you are leaving or entering the park.

I agree it's a perilous junction both for vehicles and pedestrians! Glad it wasn't too serious.

It used to be a good deal more perilous before we managed to persuade Ealing to introduce a pedestrian phase to the lights.

Maybe because the pedestrian phase is so short? Not long enough to cross both The Vale and East Acton Lane in one. But before, there was not a moment that you could cross in any direction without being in the line of fire from one way or another.
