Conveyancing Solicitor needed

Can anyone recommend a local(ish) conveyancing solicitor to oversee a property purchase for a first time buyer? Any tips & advice much appreciated. Thanks.

If you do a search several people have posted on this quite recently,  seem to recall Owen Caitlin in Chiswick being recommended.

Yes I went to tim Harry at Owen something Caitlin and he was very thorough and kept me in the loop.Fixed price too so you knew where you were.

thanks for the recommendations - I did try Owen White & Catlin but Tim Harry was not available. They seem quite a sizeable firm, should I go with one of their other consultants without personal recommendation?

I went to him because a friend who is one of the other solicitors - in a different office and different specialism - recommended him and I didn't have a clue.Haven't heard anything negative. Christine who works with Tim might point you to another conveyancing person.

We used Lawrence Weill from Robsons Surveyors when we bought our house year, he came recommended on this and the ChiswickW4 site. We found him very knowledgeable about the area and architecture, and his company were fairly competitive too. We would have no qualms in using him again.Regarding any advice, I would always have a full building survey done, even if it is expensive as this provides more peace of mind and should pick up all, if any defects, including lease issues if it’s a flat. A survey doesn't pick up the need for a full re-wire as I now know to my cost.
