Meanwhile, over the border in Cameron Land.....
LBHF Tories have announced plans for the sale of 9 community buildings to raise £20m.Hammersmith Library W6, Fulham Townhall SW6, The Irish Centre W6, Palingswick House W6 (home to 21 Vol Gps), Sands End Community Centre SW6, Greswell St Centre SW6 (H&F Action on Disability), Askham Centre W12 (Childrens Services), Nubian Life Charity building W12, Bulwer St building W12 (home to 3 charities), Distillery Lane Centre, SW6 (vacant) as well as 3 leased office buildings. Some of the Vol gps may be relocated in 2 new ‘community hubs’ The latest is in addition to the recently announced closure of the Adult support centre in W6 which created national media publicity. It also appears Sands End Library will close. The council say they have already slimmed down their workforce and reduced their office space, now it’s the Vol sectors turn. They wish to reduce council budgets by £55m over the next 3 years and reduce the current debt of £133m to release £2.5m extra for frontline services. All part of the grand plan to out Wandsworth, Wandsworth through reducing council tax (by tiny amounts to most) year on year.......and proves the Independent article pre election article correct. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/poverty-and-injustice-in-david-cameronrsquos-model-borough-1962318.htmlScorched earth or selling off the family silver?I will post on CW4 as well.
