Southfield Rec.

Some people have queried the works currently being carried out on Southfield Rec.  This work was put out for local consultation on 15 July 2009 with all local residents being given the opportunity to voice their opinion.  The intention of the work is to create a cycle and pushchair route from the new bridge over the A40 at Perryn Road through to Chiswick via Acton Park and Southfield Rec. Safe access to Southfield Rec is being created at both the north and south ends and the paths at the north end, which at the moment don't have good sight lines, are being realigned and will be safer for pedestrians.  This work was budgeted for a long time ago and in my opinion is a good enhancement to the Southfield Rec amenity. I have no connection to Ealing Council or any of its employees.

Excellent, I am so pleased this is finally happening. I believe Ealing recieved a grant, some time ago, to improve the cylce route through Southfield Rec.  For years wheelchair access via the north entrance has been impossible, unless you have someone with your to bump you up the kerb.

I don't remember a consultation about this last year but think there was one a few years ago. The most important thing is to get some lighting in the park as it's a major pedestrian route from the 207/607 bus stops and it's very dark there in the winter months.
