Police activity in Acton Park

Was surprised to see four police officers on push bikes in Acton Park around 1830 this evening - all questioning different people sitting at different benches and relaying their identity details back to base.I wonder what they were doing.Anyone know?

No, but the number of police and community support officers I see in Acton park leads me to believe it must be a very dangerous place.

I don't think it is at all - there may be some illegal activity but that doesn't make it dangerous. For all we know these were spot checks for illegal immigrants - not dangerous even if wrong.While we are on police presence - there was a police helicopter overhead a few minutes ago - at a really low level and focussed (it felt) right over my back garden. I don't suppose anyone would know why.

I think you'll find spot checks for illegal immigrants is illegal.  It would be a return to the sus-laws.  The US and specifically Arizona is having just this debate now.As to the helicopter... there is another thread about that right now

Yes - didn't see it till after doing this one.All I am realy saying is that high police presence doesn't necessarily make it a dangerous place and the best thing those of us who live near it can do is to use it a lot so that the law-abiding outnumber any other sort by a considerable margin.

High police presence could be reassuring and comforting for those who may suffer from the 'fear of crime'.    Want to know something 'ask a Policeman'.  The 'Big Society'....!!
