Police helicopter buzzing poets corner?

Sunday afternoon, 4.20pm and the Police helicopter is making yet another low, slow, pass over Poets corner.  They seem to do this most days now.  And most evenings - although then its dark so you can't see if it is the police or the air ambulance.Has this bit of Acton turned into a hot bed of crime?Have the police decided they need more surveillance?Are criminals deaf and fail to notice they are being watched?Is this an alternative to police on the beat?Or am I just imagining things?Has anyone else noticed this?And if so does anyone have an explanation?

Just logged on to see if anyone else knew what was going on with the chopper - it does seem to happen quite often.

I was told a few days ago that there was a crackdown on car crime using the helicopter but that didn't seem very likely and seems rather a waste of resource. Odd though.

Is was very low over our house just off Noel Road too. Kids don't even react to the noise now, they used to run outside to watch it.

Was relaxing in the courtyard of the Station House, when two circles of the plodcopter drowned out the live music.As these forays are seldom followed by the wail of sirens, I doubt they are effective. They are certainly not reassuring.

Daily and nightly basis, it's very loud here in Horn Lane, and sometimes low enough to make all the pigeons scatter. Add the almost 24/7 sirens and I think it's time the police wrote themselves an ASBO.

Yesterday afternoon there seemed to be a raid going on at one of the flats at the top of Friary Road (the flats with the red metal stairs and big bins).  Two cop cars, massive van full of police.  Saw one man get taken away in cuffs.  I think all the recent police presence is a good thing.

It is daily and nightly now - I would like to think that it is making a difference.  I don't think the increase of Community Police on our streets is really helping 'chance' crime as the other day I saw an old man mugged for his phone at the top of Grafton Rd. I was in my car and noticed the kids (x3) run off down Myrtle Road.  I then saw a community policewoman ambling down Shakespeare Road.  I told her what had happened and that she would probably be able to catch up with them as they were heading her way.  She said thank you but contined to amble along......  pointless?  They don't really have any powers anyway.

Trouble is, most of the kids seem to have mobile phones these days. It doesn't take much planning to phone yer mate if/when you spot a suitable victim, or if you see PC plod approaching, and then phone again when it's all clear.I'm sure these kids can run faster than the plod as well.

Well I would hope so Fred, not for the purposes of committing crime, just that kids should be healthier than their adult counterparts. Every thing seems so serious now life and death situations become commonplace, so-one must want this "climate of fear" mind-set to be 24-7 so we always feel uneasy, strange but I often feel 'safer' in the dark, rather than the daylight, maybe it's just my vampiric tendencies coming to the fore ...mmm
