Nice pix of 1930s Acton cinema

You're right. I remember it before they knocked it down but never went inside whilst it was a working cinema. How beautiful!

The first link says it opened on 8/11/37, and given that the picture advertises the same film that opened the cinema, we can deduce that the picture is from that very week.http://cinematreasures.org/theater/16637/The second link, by contrast, seems to show the building as it approached demolition in 1988. The photos were taken by John Maltby (1910 -1980). In 1935 the owner of Odeon Oscar Deutsch commissioned Maltby to take pictures of all his cinemas (which had different designs) and the pictures can be seen on the English Heritage website.

It's such a shame it was knocked down its looks lovely inside with the Art Deco.
