Telephone Engineer (NOT BT)

Can anyone recommend a telephone engineer? I have already had BT to 'fix' the problem with internal wiring but it isn't fixed.  I can't face the £120 bill from them and would rather get someone who will actually solve the problem.  By the way, the problem is damp in the internal telephone box.  So I probably need a damp specialist too?thanks

What are the symptoms? Intermittent? Noisy? Low level?

When you say "internal telephone box" do you mean the BT master socket? The damp must be quite something, as phone lines to the exchange are exposed to quite a lot of it without having problems.

No I mean the box that you plug the phone into..inside the room. It is damp - literally...all the points turn green with corrosion within a few weeks.  It is usually worse after BT has come to 'fix' things....and they say it is a problem with the internal equipment and nothing to do with them.I have found a telephone engineer so hopefully will sort it out soon.  Probably a good reason to get rid of the landline anyway...

If it really is that damp, I suggest that you find out why, and get any building faults sorted. Is it condensation from cooking?As for the phone and electrics you could try drying the plugs and putting a smear of something like Vaseline on them before inserting them.
