Properties in Brougham Road

Are there any others in the area as puzzled as we are at the length of time it's taking to complete work on the interiors of two houses in Brougham Road? One was only recently completely rebuilt. The frequent whining of drills and other tools, the hammering, the bangs as discarded materials are thrown to skips in the street are beginning to wear on our nerves. Considering one of the houses began work early this year, it seems they must be after an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest time it takes to re-do a modest terrace house. Sitting in our garden on the few decent days has been blighted by this activity.

Gerald - all this work is governed by rules and regulations (a lot on HandS grounds).  Phone Building Control in the Town Hall and ask them what's going on.  Does the skip have a licence?  Are they keeping the roadway and pavements clear of debris?

Thanks for the advice, Dee. The problem is mainly one of nuisance. We appreciate they have to make some noise when working, but the mystery is why it's taking so long...months and months! I know builders have a habit of over-running deadlines, but this is plum crazy!

They are not allowed to do building work outside the hours of 8am-6pmm weekdays and 9-1pm Saturdays.

It is not just certain landlords who neglect their properties! Some home owners are also guilty of the same thing!One house in my road has rotting gutters, some hanging by a thread from the fittings! Rain gushing down makes such a noise but the owners seem not to care.Squatters have moved into empty properties in Summerlands Avenue nd Lynton Road - surely councils should consider slapping a CPO on the landlords - I believe their companies are listed overseas!

The only way to find out who owns a property is by a land registry search - it would be very foolish indeed for a home owner to neglect their property in such a way.Are you able to give us the address of the property in question.  Perhaps someone will know who is responsible.
