Tube strike

So, who made it into work today and who stayed at home?I had to cram myself into a crowded train at Acton Main Line and then got to Paddington where I spent a little while queuing for a 205 bus to Liverpool Street - amazingly I didn't have to stand for too long on the bus and got a seat, but it took an hour and a half to crawl through Central London. Amazingly got into work bang on time, although I did leave an hour earlier than normal.

Working at home today but we had two friends of daughter to get to Kings Cross for Newcastle trains at 0930 and 10000: Overground running with delays but only one got on the first train - crowds so huge at Acton Central.Apparently practically a fist fight between two stressed commuters when one asked another not to talk so loudly on her mobile...quick shove onto track narrowly averted.Then the second girl got the second train but had real problems at the change at Willesden and can't believe how beastly Londoners are under pressure.Both (I think) caught proper trains though

207 and then 49 buses at 7ish this morning, a little crowded but no problem.The problem on the Overground is the amount of luggage and boxes/ruck sacks full of tools that people carry - often taking up the space of 1 or 2 people.Perhaps there is a need to look at banning these in the rush hour as they do in other countries.

took me 45 minutes from west acton to ealing broadway by car! Groan!!!!! Luckily for sustinance I had a lovely warm freshly baked egg and bacon pie tempting me! Dreading the journey to my son's school tonight Uxbridge road will be a nightmare I'm sure!

Got the Overland from South Acton this morning at 7.21 to Richmond then a train to Waterloo and walked to Wesminster. Was not to bad.As I was going to go running at lunchtime today decided to run home instead. First time I have ever done this and interested to see how long it would take me. 1.30hrs so treated myself to a couple of glases of red wine. Godd training though for my half marathon in 3 weeks time.

Well tonight's journey was a bit quicker for me, I left the office at 4pm and it took just over an hour travelling time from Liverpool St to Paddington on the 23, which is around normal. Hopefully things will be back to normal in the morning.
