Chicken Pox Party

This is a genuine request, I need to find someone who has a child who is in the contagious stage of chicken pox as my children have been home schooled and have never had chicken pox, and I have been advised by health visitor that I need to ensure they catch it asap before they get any older, hence my request. Anyone in the acton central / east acton area can contact me on here to arrange a meeting. Thanks

I would just wait until they get it naturally and when one gets it, they all will.  They may even have natural immunity to it.

The younger children are when they get chicken pox, the better.  It seems to be much more virulent as you get older.  I caught it from my children and felt and looked like death warmed up.

Bizarre side effect from choosing home schooling? Don't they have friends who go to school and pass on infections? I find this a bit odd and raises questions.....

Never heard a request like this before! I caught Chicken Pox around the age of 14 and it was not very pleasant and very itchy as i remember. Was smothered in Calamine Lotion.

I'm not quite sure what questions the other poster thinks this raises? Just thought I would mention that chicken pox is most common in spring and so you might have more luck then. You can also get your children vaccinated but would have to have this done privately (very common in USA to do this).

I am not sure why a health pofessional would advise infecting your children. Although not common, Chicken Pox can have severe even fatal complications. Please look into this carefully and perhaps seek a second opinion from a pediatrician.

I think if you have it as a child it is less of a problem if you get it later,  particularly for boys.  I had it as a kid and then again in my late twenties.

The vaccination available is not very effective, so not worth pursuing.

well my children never had it at the same time although all under same roof...last year when the middle one had it (still at early stage before the spots so we didnt know) we had my DH friend round and he cought it at 35. He hasnt been round since :(Have to say, its better to get it while younger but I never heard of recommendation to push children into it.

When I was growing up in Ireland it was quite common to go and expose children to it as can be very mild for children but much more severe for adults.  As Sara says chickenpox is most common in springtime.

Next spring you could post on one of the natural parenting forums to find a chicken pox party in the area such as: thegreenparent.co.uk  and no, it certainly does not raise any questions. It's the traditional and natural approach to building lifelong immunity.
