A concern for Leaseholders and Shared owners....
Amongst the long list of quango’s to be abolished published today there are two of particular interest to leaseholders and shared owners. The Leasehold Advisory Service is ‘Under consideration - Will work towards a future merger with a specialist advice service. Decision by April 2011’ ‘Lease’ currently provides free independent advice to leaseholders and freeholders in a complicated and specialist field, not quite CAB material.... Rent Assessment Panels / Residential Property Tribunal Service ‘No longer an NDPB - Abolish and transfer jurisdiction of these tribunals into MoJs tribunal service’ is where you get judgement on Landlord/leaseholder/tenant disputes, particularly over lease terms and service charges. Again a specialist area which may suffer if subsumed into a general tribunal service.Interesting that the spin has shifted from cost saving to better government. Abolishing the Audit Commission for one will crystalise c.£360m in pension deficits......
