Priory Playgroup, Acton Lane - What a great find!!

Just wanted any parents who have 2 - 5 yr olds and can't justify the very expensive prices of some nurseries in the Acton and Chiswick areas then the Priory Playgroup is the place to go! Drop your child/children off at 9.30 - 12 every weekday morning or just 2 - 3 mornings if that's all you need and you only pay £10 per child per morning! ALL the staff are fully qualified and the playgroup is OFSTED registered. The group is part lottery funded but they need more children to keep this great place going. Please don't be put off by the tired looking entrance to the Priory Community Centre as this has no reflection on the playgroup itself which is situated towards the rear of the building. Sally Gleeson has been running the group for over 20 years and is wonderful as are all her staff. My twins, who started to attend the group over 9 months ago have really come on in leaps and bounds, I can't recommend this place highly enough. Sadly it's not really about "justifiying the very expensive prices of nurseries in Acton", it's more about the fact that there are very limited nurseries in Acton Central area for those parents like myself who have to work, and work full 8 hour days, and so need childcare for 10 hours on those days, and so the majority of working parents can't just drop their child off for a few hours in the mornings.

No, it's as I said... For many of us it's not about having to "justify the very expensive prices of some nurseries in the Acton and Chiswick areas" It's literally that we have no choice as most parents work longer days.

Melrose nursery on Noel Road also have justifiable prices, £15 for 3 and a half hours (am or pm) not to mention the outstanding exceptional service they deliver. Both my children love it there and staff are great. Best nursery in Acton from my research. They also do full days 8.30 - 3.30 at £30. Couldn't recommend them more! And one of the lady that owns it is local.

Thanks - I have heard good things about the nursery in Noel Road too. Though sadly you couldn't really count being open until until 3.30pm a full day :-( (I wish I only had to work until 3.30!)Do you see my dilemna!

I do see your dilemma as many parents have the same problem. I think information like this is really helpful as I also work and am a single parent and finding out about more affordable nurseries in the area has enabled me to split my childcare between nursery and childminder which is a lot less expensive than full time nursery, which would take above and beyond what I earn. I wish I only had to work until 3.30 too.

Laura, I think the 8.30 - 3.30 day get children prepared for the days at school. And as mentioned you can combine nursery and child minder/au pair. I know how you feel about the 3.30 finish time, those jobs dont exists in my profession either :( I see many working mums manage between those house, must ask whats the secret..

I've not thought of combining both nursery and a childminder before - that's an interesting idea. I just found it hard to find a childminder I could trust my 11 month old to go to (most of my local friends use family or day nuseries) But it probably does mean it's a bit cheaper. Thanks!
