I found a small collection of those little bags for machine washing tablets lurking in a drawer.  I hadn't found anything to use them for and wondered if anybody else had...  and was amazed at the correspondence on them!

Why do people use the tablets, though. I'd have thought washing liquid less bother, less messy and less packaging.

I can't use loose powder because it makes me wheeze.  Originally I wouldn't use the liquid because of the plastic and even now I find the weight of it difficult to deal with when shopping.  Maybe it is time to re-think again.  What I have learned though is that you definitely do not need to anything like as much soap as is recommended.  I'm beginning to think that all that perfume is being used to cover up badly draining washing machines.  Never again will I think that I can't do the washing because I've no soap - because water is often enough!  I've used the ecoballs and they were fine and the machine and pipes don't get bunged up.
