Head Teacher - 'Salary to attract the best' and mention of a deputy, as an afterthought. Add is through an agency but strangely the employer address is given as 'co Hammersmith Town Hall'. I guess the money for the agency and the consultation is coming from the government quango employing Gove's former special advisor..........

It doesn't say whether the applicant needs to have QTS or a National Professional Qualification for Headship(NPQH).Looking at the advert you have to wonder what sort of egotist it will appeal to.

Actually no good for an egoist at all - from the programme about the school, there are one or two involved already - could make it rather crowded: would suit selfless, mild-mannered classics scholar with no appetite for luring the limelight away from others

Righto, so the policy of providing education outside the control of local authority is now using the address of, er, a local authority to hire its senior staff?Dare I say it's not the principle of local authority control but the colour that concerns Mr. Gove and Mr. Young?  Propagandist libertarian experiments are fine, swing Tory/Labour councils are dangerously close to Stalinism.  What a bunch of unprincipled ideology driven idiots.

I was struck by the line: "...That expects every pupil to tackle the International Baccalaureate and go on to a good university?...". Expects, mind you; and none of your riff-raff universites either. No pressure there, then.Anyone know who the slightly Neanderthal character peering over the posh Latin motto is? I can't tell if it's a Greek philosopher or a 1930s footballer.Plus, why did they translate the motto? Surely any prospective candidate who couldn't do it themselves need not apply. That plus anyone without their own gown and elbow patches...

I wasn't quite sure about the translation (although my Latin is rather rusty). Manchester Grammar School appears to prefer the translation "Dare to be wise".Wiktionary gives the following for sapio :  1. I taste of, smack of, have a flavor of.  2. I have good taste or discernment.  3. (figuratively) I am wise or sensible, discern.Isn't "learn" better as disco ?As in"Aut disce aut discede." : "Either learn or go away."
