Ealing at Christmas

Just returned from Ealing Broadway, The area is well decorated with a huge tree inside Ealing Broadway shopping centre, pretty Christmas lights all along The Broadway.The trees are also decorated with lights in the gardens facing Ealing Broadway Station.I haven't been to Acton High Street for a ferw days, anyone know what Christmas decorations we have there???The dead tree was removed outside Morrisons so I guess we shan't be getting a tree at all this year what with the cutbacks and all. With the amount of money Acton residents spend in Morrisons surely it's about time they actually did something to make the place look a little cheerful at this time of year.Acton always seems to be the poor relaton.

You would have though Morrison's could have found a few quid to sponsor a new tree. They have a monopoly as far as major supermarket retailers go in Acton. So it would be nice if they could plough something back into the local commuity.

They shouldn't have to be told, they should start paying something back to the community, it would be a nice gesture - the season of goodwill and all that!

Tis the season to be jollyalthough we don't have too much lollyand at this lovely time of yearWhat do we need? Some Christmas Cheer!Instead of having a celebrationActon is always the poor relationIn Hammersmith or Ealingthe decorations are so appealingShepherds Bush is also prettyIt's the same in most parts of the citybut alas poor Acton looks very sadNo Lights, no tree - it makes me madI know that money is very tightbut all we want is Christmas lightsEven the lights we have each yearSomethng to bring a little cheerI have to beg each Christmas timeThat's why I wrote this little rhyme.

I wrote to say 'Let there be light'and lo and behold tonightI saw very a pretty sightYes - we have our Christmas lights!!!It's a shame we have no Christmas TreeBut I guess it was not to beThe tree on the mount is no longer thereinstead it looks all sad and bareOh well at least we can make merryI'll go in Morrisons and get some sherry!

Noticed this morning that the lights on the lamp posts in Churchfield Road are now switched on. They had been put up in October. Noticed them one day as I was coming in to Acton Central from the North.

They look nice don't they.But I have withdrawn from the fray - neither Ealing nor Westfield appeals and I have done the lot on line. Only husband, son and former nanny to go...all stocking and hannukah presents likewise complete.Much hekped though by our adult no-present pact: we all choose a charity instead of giving each other stuff we don't need and I have had huge fun with "Good gifts" which is a great site.

Walking across The Mount this evening the trees were all adorned with little lights, what a difference it makes! The area looks rather Christmassy now!Still no nice Christmas tree though but hey ho, can't complain!

I think some of the shops on Churchfield Rd have done lovely decorations,  Anthony Bell,  the new beauty salon  (cannot recall the name),  Angela Malik to name a few.
