nevilles bakery

Hi, many years ago i drove for Nevilles bakery on Acton lane and am in the process of building a model of the lorry i used to drive. Could anyone remind me of the colour scheme I know the usual Sunblest colours were yellow& white, but i seem to recall Nevilles was red & white. Help please thanks. ex Ramsey resident. David

It's a long shot, but Lambeth archives department hold archives for H W Nevill Ltd from 1894-1968. The archives include a scrapbook file with leaflets (bottom of page).  http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=088-iv62&cid=-1#-1So, if the leaflets are in colour, and they show delivery lorries, and the colour scheme stayed the same up to the time that you drove them, and the colour scheme was the same for the Acton branch ... as I said, it's a long shot.

At the Hive of Industry Exhibition at Gunnersbury Park Museum I'm pretty sure there's a model of a Neville's delivery van in colour.The exhibition is open in the Large Mansion 11 to 4pm till September 2011. Was talking with my Father, Stephen Akerman, about Neville's this evening and came across ŷour question.    He can confirm the vans  were red and white.When were you at Neville's?    Do you remember my Father's name?

Hi Alison, I worked there on the delivery vans from 61 to63. I cant remember your dad ofhand. Was he related to Pat Ackerman who lived down my street, Ramsey Road. Thanks, David

An uncle of mine used to work at the Acton Bakeries near the Askey Road junction back in the 1950s.I was only a young teen yet they allowed me, on my visits to see my Uncle, to use a machine filling eclairs with cream!I ate these things till I could face them no more! Sweets were rationed at the time so cream ckes were a good substitute. I've never looked back!
