Thursday recycling collection

Our recycling green box & food bin were not collected today. Plastics and black sacks were collected.According to May Gurney, the missing collections in Goldsmith Avenue will happen tomorrow (Friday), and the same should apply to other roads that have missed collections.

I tend to believe it. The lady I spoke to could access a  database of roads covered today, downloaded I think from returning vehicles, and was able to confirm that the whole of Goldsmith Avenue had been missed, rather than just my address.

Other way round for us up by N Acton Rec. The green box and the plastics sack were emptied, but the bin bags are still there

Our plastic items were collected today but not much else.However, Faraday Road was gritted today, hurrah!

I suspect that the recycling crews have been put on snow clearing duties.  As long as your recycling is on your property and NOT PUT IN THE PAVEMENT, as some people are doing illegally, I do not see what the problem is. The world will not come to an end because your recycling has not been collected.  I fear in today's economic climite it is a question of priorities.What has happened to the BIG SOCIETY ???

I didn't suggest the world would come to an end. But it is a pain to have a frozen food bin at the bottom of the garden, rather than in the kitchen. I would simply have brought the items inside had the collection been delayed a week.

Ian, Apologies - I wasn't suggesting that you did.If it helps - I have 2 of the small bins inside the house.  One washed the other in use - and they don't smell if you put layers of paper in between the scraps.  I then empty the full interior small bin into the large bin located in the front garden.I have noticed that you can now buy the small interior bins from various shops if Ealing Council haven't got any left they could let you have.  Don't forget, many of the scraps put into the recycling bin can be fed to the birds.
