No Water

Hi,Just wondering if anyone else has no water from some taps.  I live off the Horn Lane...Holding on at the moment to speak to someone at Thames Water..

York Road - has a big hole in the road from a burst pipe a few days ago which affect my kitchen tap but they are ok now. Pipes are bursting everywhere.

Reported water gushing up from under the road in Essex Rd junc Horn lane today. First spotted Sunday morning but stupidly thought those closest to the burst would have reported it. Wrong!

No problems here in West Acton but for the past two weeks the water has been very cloudy. Last saturday it came out of the tap the colour of milk...Pure white. Never seen anything like it before !!

Thames Water are now despatching an engineer within the next 8 hours, as they have received other calls about this.So let's see what happens...

I have woken up today to no water. Live on Horn Lane, I have called Thames water, they have advised this s affecting around 100 properties. They were not able to say when someone would be out to repair the burst pipe.

Water gushing out from small hole in pavement on Messaline Avenue near junction with Emmanuel Avenue yesterday morning as I passed still same at midnight.

It does make me wonder about what is expected by some people. They have water flowing outside their properties but think it someone elses job to report it? Do they walk straight out of their house to the car oblivious to whether the pavement is deep in snow or water everywhere? I suppose it requires a sense of "community" to act on other peoples behalf. Much easier to complain "that nothing has been done" when everyone leaves it to someone else to report.

Kevin, that is what the BIG SOCIETY is all about.  Going back to how things used to be before the NANNY STATE took over.  'Not my job' .... ugh!! Clearing one's frontage of snow - both by residents and shop keepers is a prime example.Stepping over someone who has fallen down in the street is another (which happened to my mother).

Dee, just want to say...You will be pleased to hear, that I am one of these good samaritans who was brought up properly! Just last week I witnessed a man take a nasty fall after slipping on the wet floor of Paddington station, and I am pleased to say that I stopped to check he was alright and helped him get back on his feet - and I was helped by at least one other person!Anyway, here's the real reason I came to this thread: Has anyone else in the area noticed a large amount of water on the road this morning on Horn Lane, I believe it was particularly around the Lynton Road area? I will check again tonight if it is still there. I couldn't be sure whether the standing water was due to a burst pipe or just a lot of rain, as it had been raining overnight, but like I say I will check again tonight when hopefully the roads should be a bit more free of rainy dampness and if there is still a large amount of water there I will get TW to check it out.

Haven't noticed the Horn Lane flood but has anyone seen the one at the bottom of Goldsmith Road - it was blocking the pavement over the weekend but I haven't walked down since...I rather assumed it was to do with the Albion works but am not sure.Have been BAD CITIZEN and not reported it. Has anyone else?

Yes water almost a fountain coming out of the road near the car wash, opposite the Co-Op no doubt running down to Lynton RoadHave checked the Thames water incidents here is the link :- http://www.thameswater.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/corp/hs.xsl/10176.htmHorn Lane is reported already but not Goldsmiths avenue.

....and Hillcrest Rd yesterday. We had no water for a while in the afternoon/evening. Why all the burst pipes everywhere all of a sudden?

Could be as a result of the cold weather and then the ground warming up again and it all expands/contracts around the pipes.

Goldsmith Road flood noted, but not reported. Thought it may have come from the Albion Public House development.

The burst pipe in Horn Lane has been an ongoing problem since December!  We noticed that a Fire Engine and crew were stopped in the vacinity of the burst pipe a few days ago but surely it is up to Thames Water who are always telling residents to not waste water!The steady flow now resembes a stream and will only get worse until they decide it is important enough to finally do something about it!I have lost count of the number of times we contacted Thames Water regarding burst pipes in the same area but the problem seems to happen again and again.Travelling around Ealing I have noticed a number of flooded areas and burst pipes, all unattended of course. I guess the next thing we will get is a huge price increase on our water bills!

Jean, this is really a 'political' matter and needs to be taken up at the highest level.  This cannot continue.We are all being told to save this, reuse/recycle that - and Thames Water are being totally irresponsible in this wastage which must be costing a lot of money.

I'm in the same boat as Jean.  I have contacted Thames Water about repeated burst pipes on Horn Lane/Lynton Road and they have done nothing. I believe there is a brook running underneath Horn Lane and I'm sure this is got something to do with it.

Those who are experiencing problems with these leaks need to write a joint letter to their local Councillors, or send a Petition to the Council asking Ealing Council to take up the matter at high level with Thames Water on their behalf.

I reported the one at the bottom of Goldsmith Road to Thames Water this afternoon - but they said it would take three days to look into it.Would it be quicker if I tweeted?

Sara, the Goldsmith Road 'lake' may not be a 'leak', but a blocked gully possibly caused by the builders working on The Albion PB.  Ashley is looking into the matter.

I'm impressed by Amy's response.  Don't you just love technology.... although wonder how long until we have to report emergencies on the Met police Facebook page!  ;-)Must admit I am still sniggering at the Albion workmen putting concrete down the drain!  Dee's right, god knows what the inside is like!
