Xmas trees and Acton Park

Over the last few days I've watched dozens of trees being dropped inside the entrance of Acton Park. Is this a known and acceptable practice or just a (large) number of people taking liberties. I would have thought that you would be expected to take them to the local tip or recycle centre. Just interested to know what people thoughts are?

Don't know if it's true but I was told there is a tree mulching company in that bottom bit of the park near the train tracks, maybe they pick them up?

Yes, the tree mulching area is towards the Uxbridge Road end of the park, close to the railway tracks.  There are always a number of trucks parked there too, used for general tree maintenance throughout the year.The Christmas trees are chopped up and the 'bits' used in the fenced off areas of the park, and for the pathways.

All explained, thanks. Looked at the Acton Park website but was a little basic and couldn't find the info given by Ealing.

For the first time this year you can leave out your Xmas tree with your recycling and it will be picked up.  If it is taller than 6' it will need to be cut in two.  This is mentioned in Around Ealing.

That's correct.  My daughter left her tree in the front garden and it was removed with the recycling.

If you haven't found the information clear then you can be pretty sure that there are tohers who haven't either.  Why not ask for more information to be put on the website and a link to the Council's website?There is actually information on the front page of this website under Calendar.  You can always search the Council website (I mean there is a 'search' facility.)

The original poster was referring to the Acton Park website.  I don't know what this is but whatever it is it sounds like a link to the Council website which gives all sorts of information including where all the street recycling banks are and press releases on local matters would be useful.I agree that Around Ealing is very informative.  Not sure I could put my hands on the last one though - it seems to have got lost in the Christmas melee - which is why the open all hours easy to find Council website is very useful.www.ealing.gov.uk

If you Google "acton park" the first result is actonpark.co.uk which is the web site for the Friends of Acton Park. As far as I can see it doesn't contain any information about Christmas tree recycling.
