ealing parking increase

As a resident of one of the only streets left without a CPZ, does this mean we will face even more competition for parking spaces as the permit prices increase?  I don't think that £40 a year is a lot to pay for the privilege of being able to park in your own street, but obviously there are folks out there who think that it is! Spare a thought for those of us who have to battle it out with commuters and residents from neighbouring streets to get a parking spot near our house.  If anyone is experiencing similar issues and would like to petition the council to implement a CPZ, please get in touch!  I would be happy to pay up if it would put a stop to those who take advantage of the unzoned areas.

Kate the problem with being in a CPZ is that you then have to pay for visitor's permits and these have rocketed since the start of the year from £1 per day to £3.50.  If by any chance you forget to give your visitor a permit, or heaven forbid fill it incorrectly they will receive a parking penalty.  All these things are part and parcel of the CPZ, the cost of the residents permit is just the start.

The other thing to remember is that when  a CPZ is introduced often the number of spaces is reduced as well.  Some councils charge a lot more for 2nd vehicle from the same address and some don't even allow visitors permits so one needs to think of future as well as current impact and cost.

Perhaps there is a need for the whole of the Acton Central Ward to be included in a CPZ with the same timing - in order that there is no confusion.  (except of course for the areas near to shops, doctor's surgeries, etc.)

No Dee I would not support the same timings for all.  One hour in the morning and afternoon deters the all day parking but means that one pays less for permit and does not have to give permits to all visitors. I accept other areas may have need for all day CPZ, but I applaud Ealing's current flexibility.
