Estoril has gone

I thought the Portueguese cafe with the great custard tarts was flourishing - it always looked busy.But it has gone and a bright new Indian restaurant is about to open in its place

I know, such a shame as it was the best coffee in Acton. And really well priced. And the only place for portuguese custard tarts.The only glimmer is that Franks cafe has replaced it as my go to place for a cheap cupppa with a mate. The food is good and again, really well priced. Great BLT's!! And the girls who work there clearly enjoy their job as they are always very chirpy.

The portions are enormous Sara so make sure you are really hungry. Have never had a hot meal in there (but know many that do) tending only to purchase a light lunch but their baguettes are big enough to feed 2 !!.... then again i do have a baby belly.

I too will miss the custard tarts from Estoril.  I have no idea why they left, and the new facade does not bode well I am afraid.  It has occurred to me lately that some of our favourite Acton eateries have declined in standards lately.  I'm not sure if it's because costs have to be cut, but I hope they improve soon.  I'm not going to name any, as that would be unfair.  They know who they are!

Tried Franks Cafe for breakfast this morning and thought it good at what it does except the portions are so large as to be repellent.Next time will ask for half an omelette.Sorted hungry son rather well though.Good toast
