Advance Warning A40 Western Ave near Gypsy Corner
For information essential 24 hr road works on the A40 Western Avenue at Gypsy Corner from Sunday 23rd January until Friday 28th January, details follow:"TfL have given advanced warning of the forthcoming works that National Grid Gas (NGG), AboveNet, and TfL have to undertake on the Transport for London Road Network between Park View and Wales Farm Road on the A40 Western Avenue. NGG will be carrying out urgent works to repair a gas leak on an essential trunk main located in the eastbound carriageway of the A40 Western Avenue. To take full advantage of the traffic management restrictions and also to minimise future disruption, AboveNet will be completing phase 2 of their duct installation along this route.TfL will also be carrying out essential highway maintenance works. The works are scheduled to begin 22:00 Sunday 23 January, with an anticipated end date of Friday 28 January. Contractors will be working 24 hours a day to ensure that these works are completed as quickly as possible. As a result of these works, the following temporary traffic measures will be put in place: 1) Lanes two and three eastbound will be closed between Victoria Road and Wales Farm Road2) Lane three westbound will act as a contra-flow for eastbound traffic, to maintain two lanes in both directions3)There will be no right turn out of Wales Farm Road and Horn Lane4) The speed limit will be reduced from 40mph to 20mph throughout the work area TfL anticipate some disruption to vehicular traffic. To mitigate the anticipated disruption, we will have electronic Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) in the area to pre-warn drivers of these works.
