Cat flap

We'd like to get a cat flap installed, preferably magnetic, and were hoping to get recommendations. Also, this is our first time getting one so wondering what would be a reasonable price for this?Thanks

Make sure your cat's willing to wear a collar with the magnet on. We had a cat who wouldn't rest until she'd got her collar off.

Do check to make sure the installers install the correct way round.  Ours did not.  So initially any cat could get in but only our chipped cat could get out.  The cost depends on the type of door/ place you are having the flap installed in.  Ours was particularly high as installed in a sealed double glazed panel so had to have the original panel replaced and one made to measure.

I get my cat flaps (yes, plural - my boisterous creatures have broken them in the past) from these people:http://www.masterplastics.co.uk/catflaps.htmThey not only do the standard flap that I use, but the magnetic ones, and a new version which works on the cat's microchip, and doesn't require the cat to wear a collar (mine won't). You could choose from there, then just get someone handy with a jigsaw to fit it. Once the hole is cut, most of the flaps are a standard size - I've replaced mine three times myself with no great difficulty.

If you are interested in the catflap that uses the microchip, make sure the chip is compatible with the flap - we spent a lot of money, just to find out the flap didn't work  with the chip.
