The meeting was packed, standing room only by the time I got there. One of the GPs did a powerpoint presentation about the current system and then about the proposed changes. She was very careful to be neutral while still pointing out the costs and benefits of both systems. Mill Hill is part of the Ealing consortium which is one of the largest in the country, I think she said 83 surgeries across Ealing have banded together (I didn't take notes so this is from memeory). There were lots of questions including the issue of GPs having to consider "any willing provider" which could open the door to private providers. The second speaker was from a patients organisation who encouraged us to get involved (I put my name down). For those who are interested there is a Keep Our NHS public meeting next Wednesday 7.30pm at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square (nearest tube Holborn). I was going to announce this last night but the meeting ran out of time before I had the chance.
