100's of new residential units but no infrastructure?

Are we really to get hundreds of new residential units with absolutely no infrastructure? No additional medical facilities, no schools, not even thoughts of providing water, power, gas, or sewage facilities?

"not even thoughts of providing water, power, gas, or sewage facilities?"It's the new fashion, Chris.  Doesn't half save on energy. I wouldn't want to live down the hill from them though.Where exactly is this paradise being built?

North Acton, Western Avenue, Old Oak Lane towards Willesden Junction, Park Royal areas. There was a confused silence when I asked the question at the East Acton Ward Forum. The area is not far from the very high voltage (275KV) ring round London, so is probably in a better position than many. There is also an enormous very high pressure water main near the North Circular Road. I do not know about gas supplies, but sewage? There were so many problems around the area that a relief sewer had to be dug from near Gypsy Corner to East Acton, but there are still flooding problems along Horn Lane. It all ends up at the treatment works near The Vale.All the schools appear to be full, and there is a shortage of health provision.

Chris - this has been a concern of mine as well, especially when schools, doctor's surgeries, parking and green spaces are so crowded already.  When new housing estates are built, they are required to provide services for the new properties in terms of shops, schools, parks, etc., but this seems to be completely overlooked with brownfield development.  The lack of parking spaces included with many of these new develpments should be of concern to anyone living on nearby streets.

This is a big challenge for Acton.The first and most obvious sympton of this - came last year when the council tried to expand Derwentwater Primary School and sparked a tremendous row.At the time the council was blaming the high "birth rate" for extra demand for places. What the council did not mention was the number of new housing developments that have been given planning permission over the last 10 years.My guess is another battleground is likely to become nursery school places.

Its not just the new units,many conversions,additions toexisting property,without any thought re services,the planners should take all this on board when permission is given for a project to be carried out,most of use are living like battery hens,and no one seems to care!!!!!
