just saw a guy on bicycle.....

at the postbox at the corner of shaa road and perryn road, getting something from a person in a white checked hoodie, he had been hanging around there for at least fifteen minutes, waiting....there have been bricks thrown at some of the windows of the houses and cars nearby, please can we clean up this activity, and report to local police if you see anything.

I reported similar activity at that corner last year.  Why on earth hasn't it been stopped yet?I also informed Acton Central Safer Neighbourhood Police Team about possible open drug dealing in Emanuel Avenue last week.  No reply.  What are we paying these people for?

When I saw drug dealing 24 months or so ago in Springfield Gardens I phoned the community police team and they advised me to dial 999 which I did. I have not seen any dealing there since.

The standard proceedure is to phone 999 if it is happening now. When you get through to the right service you report it to the operator, who is based in another part of the UK and does not know the area. The nearest available officer will attempt to drive through the traffic with full blues and sirens and then write down the details. Give up during the Olympics because of total gridlock after normal traffic is excluded from lanes along major routes and alternate local routes are re-named as "rat-runs" and blocked.

Did you report it to the police Caroline?The way a similar problem on Churchfield Road was sorted was through many reports from the public to the police who then had plenty to go on.There were several sets of arrests over a few months there and we haven't seen a problem at the same property recently.But you do have to be pro-active WHENEVER you see dealing. Not just once.

Chris, the 'other part of the UK' is Hendon for West and North-west London. Calls are graded and released on the police despatch radio for the borough the call relates to. There are seperate despatchers for each borough. If it is urgent, eg person is/has just been robbed/attacked, the despatcher will start the details running on the radio, updating the information as it comes it. Blues and twos are only used for I graded calls which mean immediate assistance required, several cars may run to the same call depending on what it is for. The first car on arrival will evaluate if further cars are required and if not they will cancel any one else from coming over the radio.

I have lived alongside the A40 all my life, and have needed to phone for help rather too often. On several occasions the BT operator has had difficulty putting the call through to the required service, and on previous occasions I have been routed to Swansea, Liverpool, and Glasgow.

I've seen it fleetingly near Acton Town station, but didn't report it, as by the time I realised what was happening I'd moved on, and had no real info as to what the lads concerned looked like/were wearing etc.  I will be more vigilant next time.This was about 3.30 in the afternoon and it was kids coming home from school - worrying.
