Bicycle repair shop

Apparently due to be opening opposite the entrance ot Acton Central station this weekend - anyone know anything about it?

Not heard this (but then I don't have a bicycle!)I live opposite but haven't seen anything.  Perhaps it will be the empty shop that's part of the station - what used to be Town & Country bookies before they moved up the road.Very fitting for Acton.  Wasn't the Monty Python 'Bicycle Repair Man' sketch filmed in Churchfield Road?

I beleive so.The sign is right bby the level crossing in what was until only about last week rather derelict looking land.Seems a fab idea to me - but I have a bike and a degree in incompetence.

Yes I noticed that today as came out of Acton Central but how can it be a shop by 2 April as it's just an open yard/land at the moment,  perhaps it will be a makeshift type thing?!

Oh! Duh.  Just realised this said Acton Central rather than Acton Town.That explains why I haven't seen anything ...!

I went in, a couple of mechanics one older one younger (very pleasant scottish I think). They don't seem to be selling bikes just mending them, though they did seem to have about 20 or so in their 'shed'.£25 for a full service. £65 (if I recall) to have your bike completely rebuilt ... pretty good prices if they're any good

I had a full service (including fixing my broken brakes) for £25 which was a bargain - done very quickly and my bike was cleaned as well.  I hope this business continues - just what we need!

Just booked mine in for a spring tune up. The young bloke I spoke to seemed friendly and helpful. If it's done right I may get them to resurrect my other bike that's been neglected for a couple of years

Exactly! I love Woolseys as I bought my bike there. Very helpful people.

Woolsey are great, but does that mean no one else is "allowed" to open and complete locally?There are many cafes in Acton, we all have our own personal choices, but does that mean others have to close to avoid competition?

Don't see a problem. I biked straight from booking a service at  the new place to Woolsey's to buy a new pair of riding mitts. Horses for courses

And if more people who otherwise wouldn't have their bikes repaired or renovated, now do, that's all to the good...I wasn't of course saying no competition should be "allowed" to preserve Woolseys, merely that it would be a shame if a great local business suffered - or became uneconomic - because of it.But probably, with more cyclists and cycling, there's room for several businesses, and having one so close is great.

Had my bike done there this afternoon. Took about an hour and it's running SOOOO much better. New gear cable, (an extra fiver) a good clean of the rear mech and I no longer have to really stab the lever to change gear. Wish I'd had it done months ago. Very pleased

The nice young men there did a good job servicing my Dawes bike today...apparently they have almost more work than they can take which is fantastic for a business only a week old.

When I went a couple of days ago, they were so busy I had to book in - but only for the next day. I suspect it depends what you want: book a service but maybe they would do it straight away if it was just one quick thing.

It was open Sunday too and the forecourt full of pretty young women when I passed. Don't think they were working there though.
