Tips For Burnt Pot

My favourite Le Creuset casserole pot is now burned on the inside with a thick crust of blackened baked beans. I have tried everything - elbow grease, soaking it, boiling with soapy water, vinegar, bicarb of soda..all to no avail.Is it a trip to Sterling Road or do the good people of Acton have a magic solution?

Biological washing powder - lots and lots of it.  Bring it to the boil and then leave it to soak.  You might have to scrub a bit and repeat several times but it does eventually work.

I have several 25 year old plus Le Creusot casseroles which have survived burnt food, have blackened insides but still work well. Not 'non stick' but still great. If you plan a trip to Stirling Rd, let me know date and time....

No guarantees, but I've often rescued burned pans (although not Le Creuset)  with some wonderful stuff called Astonish. It's the oven and cookware cleaner.http://www.astonishcleaners.com/products/kitchen-cookware.php I think it's mildly abrasive so repeated use on a non stick surface might not be such a good idea but if the pot is otherwise ruined, why not?It's not that easy to find though. John Lewis stock it but I don't recall seeing it anywhere else. Or you can get it online

i think i saw somethng about using cocoa cola boiled in pan? With Astonish i think the market stalls by sainsbury's chiswick used to sell Astonish range, or something similar.

Washing soda if it is not a raw aluminium surface that would go dark grey or black, otherwise domestic Borax which should not attack aluminium. Caustic soda oven cleaner would be even more aggressive to aluminium.

I think I saw cartons of Cillit Bang on sale at the 99p shop, maybe it would work, though I've never tried it for anything, I just like the name, maybe a wire brush attachment to a drill would sort it out.
