Reliable taxi firm

Can any one recommend a realiable, friendly taxi firm in Acton?

We use Churchills, who are at Acton Town Station. They have always been reliable for us. Phone number 020 8993 0911. No connection with company, just satisfied customers!!

I fell out with Churchills when they tried to rip me off on an airport run and barely use them now...but find West London cars in Churchfield Road fairly good.I don't think any are perfect and, in my experience, the bigger like Addison Lee - are worse than the small local ones.

I turn to Monarch (020 8994 7777) when I need someone who will turn up in a clean car and who is reliable and pleasant but have often used Churchill's without a problem.

We know Monarch well and have used them for many years. On the whole we (aged parents) don't have too much of a problem with the service that the various firms provide, but when it comes to our twenty something daughters, there have been one or two instances that have caused concern and upset. I'm not sure that we can guarantee that it will never happen whatever firm we use but it would be nice to know one that they could trust completely whoever the driver.

There is a company in The Vale called Angelscars.com who have female drivers available. 0208 740 0400.Not used them myself....just a card that was put through the door which i kept.

Parkway is good and reliable.  I have used them for many years without problems.  Oak Tree cars also, although they are based just off Savoy Circus and not therefore as convenient.

Always use Churchills and find them cheap and reliable.Sara, how did they try to rip you off on an airport run?

Susan,Churchills are by far the best in the area.  I have been using them for the past 10 years.If you find someone who is doing the run you require is cheaper, tell them what they are charging, and see if they are prepared to reduce the cost.  They have NEVER (apologies for capitals) let me down - especially on early morning runs to the airport.....  and by the way I have no financial connection with them at all.Interestingly it was the cab service in Churchfield Road which tried to overcharge me when I contacted them!All very odd, perhaps it is who you get on the phone when you call them.Good luck.

Yes, I use Churchill's for all airport runs. Did you mean to talk to Sara who was the one dissing them? £18 for a drop-off at terminals 1-4 and £20 for terminal 5.

I use West Acton cars - unsurprisingly based in a hut on west acton tube station - always a cab available at short notice when ive needed one..

I got totally put off local cab companies a few years ago, so sick of dirty cars with seatbelts that didn't work and drivers who don't have a clue where they are going....I dare say that might have changed since the full licensing has come in but I don't want to risk finding out! I use Addison Lee a lot (cash bookings) when I'm out too late to contemplate the tube/bus - cars are clearly marked and always spotless, plus you get a text when the car is on the way (with the driver's mob no and the car make and reg) and another when it arrives meaning you do not have to stand on the street watching for it. Easier to book if you have an iphone or blackberry as you can download their app. Added advantage is that works wherever you may be in London. They've never let me down.....yet, my fingers are crossed they never do!

Yet the few times I have used Addison Lee I have found them extortionate, late and not very bright. Had a ghastly time on a trip to Greenwich last year when firstly they turned up twelve hours early, then they couldn't find an address, then it was the wrong number of cabs and they got lost. Wouldn't use them on purpose again.

I've always had good experiences with Addison Lee.I agree they're expensive, but worth the money I think.  Especially if you're on your own late at night.Unless you pay for a black cab no cab driver knows all the roads in London but all AL cars have sat nav which has worked OK for me in the past (I appreciate sat nav isn't always right though!).
