Acton Primary School Consultation

Just a reminder that the deadline for filling out Ealing Council's Primary School Consultation is approaching. Next Tuesday 31st May is the cut off date. You can complete online by going to: http://www2.ealing.gov.uk/services/council/consultations/current_consultations/primary_school_places_Acton/_docs/primary_school_places_in_acton.htmA planning application has gone in for the 'installation of a temporary single storey detached classroom unit with external ramp / steps and canopy and erection of fencing with gates' at Derwentwater Primary School. Ealing Council are saying that the application for a 'temporary' classroom is a last resort. But as they are so short of places apparently, this application suggests that the bulge class is highly likely. As you point out Sarah, as usual with Ealing, it's ar*e about face. They should have been planning for this (meaning building new schools) years ago when they were granting permission to housing developers.

I, along with many others have thought that the property and land at 91 Shakespeare Road would make a wonderful nursery for Derwentwater School. The house is not derelict contrary to what some people believe and could easily be refurbished/converted. The land attached to it possibly used as an extension and play area. Thereby keeping the original house in situ.I did mention this to one of our local councillors a few weeks back and he too thought this could be the answer to Derwentwater's lack of space.......He did wonder if the Council could do a compulsory purchase order on the property if this was an option............

Planning for school places is always difficult.  What if for whatever reason, there is a sudden influx of parents with 4 children each in January, expecting school places in September?  It only takes 10 parents to make a classroom full.
