Save 91 Shakespeare - meeting Wednesday June 8th
The owner of number 91 Shakespeare Road has had his development on the site rejected by Ealing Council. We are a group of local residents who oppose this development as well. This development was rejected on three grounds: Overdevelopment. This is a three house plot and it contains three narrow houses and a block of flats. It’s too much. Amenity. All of the new properties do not meet the requirement for outside space, and the development itself overlooks and removes amenity from the neighbours. A Parking Stacker. The provision of an underground hydraulic Parking Stacker is not in keeping and is a potential nuisance, both itself and the cars that will use it. The owner has taken his plans to the Appeals Inspectorate and we now have to face an Appeal hearing later on this year – probably in early September. The developer’s associate has put in another proposal on the same site using a set of plans previously rejected by Ealing’s Planning Department on the original proposal. I suspect there will be another appeal on these ‘new’ plans in due course. The unanimous rejection of the original proposal at the Council Planning meeting was the first victory of a longer campaign; we are going to have to continue to fight if we are to stop this appalling, out of keeping development in our area. We need your support. I’ve arranged a meeting to discuss our progress thus far and to see how we should continue to oppose effectively, and I do hope that you’ll be able to make it.
